The Duke of Killiecrankie is well dowered with the prizes^of this world. Everything for him runs with oiled smothness, with one exception— his love for the Lady Henrietta Addison. The.lady rejects him on the score of liis want of firmness, and to prove to her his strength of purpose he abducts her to his castle in Inverness and determines to. hold her till she relents. Mrs. MulhollancL a wealthy widow at whom Welby, M.P., is setting his cap, is asked as chaperone to the cas,tle. The ladies do not get on well at first, but eventually agree to pull together to defeat the Duke. He, how-' | ever., with cute strategy overcomes the lady's obstinacy, and from this on the story is one of intense interest. Miss j Tempest is seen at her best in the part of the widow. "Mary Goes First J' is the second attraction, to be staged on ' Friday. It is a comedy dealing with l the. eattishness of woman, and is supposed to be an exposure of methods social and political.
