BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, May 22. The weather was fine after the night's rain, and the course improved but was still heavy. Gladful was favorite m the hurdles, and ran prominently, but was unable to last against Algous. Biylane was scratched for the All-Aged Stakes. Wolaroi was favorite, but Greenstead cleverly beat the champion weight-for-age horses. Snub, ridden by O'Shea, ran in the Cumberland Stakes, but never hit the front. Poitrel won as he liked. Results : | Second Hurdles Handicap—Algous 1, Mountwood 2, Gladful 3. Also started: Jack Rie, Goonaugledene. The latter and Gladful made most of the running, but Algous easily swamped the opposition in the straight, and won by eight lengths. Time, 5.1. Stakes—Greenstead 1, 1 Wolaroi 2, Cetigne 3. The only starters. Greenstead paced from Cetigne and Wolaroi. Entering the straight I the order was Cetigne, Greenstead, Wolaroi, but at the distance Greenstead came away and .won by threequarters of a length. Time, 1.42. Coogee H/mdieap —Spillway 1, Cash Register 2, Ciceroi 3. Nineteen started. Sobrina and Cerise Colors made the early running. Cerise Colors, Varico, and Spillway were first into the straight, but Spillway drew away at the distance, and won by a length . and a Jialf. Time, 1.57£. Easter- Handicap—Shapely 1, Yarraldool 2, Richmond Main 3. Nine started. Sweet Rosaleen and ¥arraldool made most of the running. Sweet Rosaleen was first into the straight, but Shapely overhauled her and won by a, length and a half. Time, 1.30£. Cumberland Stakes —Poitrel 1, Kennaquhair 2, Thana 3. Also started: Bursar, Lanius, and Snub. From the start Thana was first away. Passing the stand the order was Thana, Ken- , naquhair, Snub, Poitrel, Bursar, and Lanius. The field entered the straight in the same order". Poitrel drew out at the distance, winning by four lengths. Time, 3.34. City Handicap —Braile 1, Amazonia 2, Ulva's Isle 3. Seven started. West Molong made all the running, but Braile cut down the leader in the straight, and got the best of a great finish by a neck. Time, 2.56£.
