The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd. (Hawera branch) report as follows: —
. Afc Kalraramea on Monday, October 14th, we had a full yarding, competition being^good. We quote-: Hoggets 32s 3d to £2, forward cows £9 to £10 V2s, stores £7 10s to £8 15s, light cows £5 10s to £7, empty heifers £6 12s to £7 17s, Holstein bulls £18 to, £20, Shorthorns £17 10s to £18 ss, yearling stoers £4 5s to £6, heifers £'6 15s to £4 17s 6d, dairy cows £10 to £25 ss, three-year-old heifers £14 to £18 10s, calved heifers £11 to £17.
At Eltham on Wednesday, 16th inst., we had a small yarding, many lines not corning forward on account of the bad weather. Forward cows £8 to £10 ss, light ditto £5 to £7, empty heifere £5 17s to £6 18s, yearling steers £5 10s to £5 15s, Shorthorn bulls £15 to £18 15s. 15 months ditto 6£ll to £13 10s H.dlstein bulls £15 to £17.
At Hawera on Thursday we bjeld our usual fortnightly sale., when we had a fair yarding. Young cattle were not in demand, dairy cows and heifers selling particularly well. Forward cows £9 to £12 17s, stores £7 to £8 15s, light cows £5 to £6 15s, hoggets 335, ewes 18s, dairy cows £14 to £18, heifers £13 to £18 ss, 2-year-olds £12 to £15, cows and calves £32 to,, £17, heifers and calves £9 to £11 10s, store pigs £2 13s to £3 3s, slips 20s to 28s, .sow £8 10s. In conjunction with the Farmers' Organisation Society we report having held a clearing sale of yearling cattle on account of Mr J. F ~ Stevenson, at which the following prices were realised: Yearling Shorthorn steers £6 9s to £7, yearling Holstein steers £5 10s to £6 Is, small steers £3 13s, Jersey cross heifers (good) £7 to £7 Is, others £5 7s to £6 15s, Shorthorn heifers £5 to £5 15s, small heifers £3 16s to £4 6s.
Our annual bull fair was held at the Haw-era yards on Friday, 18th inst., when the following prices were realised: Two-year Shorthorn bulls from 22 to 25 guinea®, yearling Shorthorn bulls 17 to 18i guineas, 2-yeao- Holstein bulls 22 to 25 guineas, stud Jersey bulls from 2c. to 32* guineas, grade Jersey bulls 12 guineas.
