(From Our Own Correspondent.) BENEFIT FOR PATEA RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION. For some time pact the local enj thusiaste have been practising parts I and songs for the. above concert, which \ took place on Wednesday last, and proved a very successful entertainment The performers, one and all, deserve great credit for their efforts, and, judging by the rounds of applause from the well-filled hall, which greeted each item, all did justice to their parts. Although ,the weather was anything but pleasant, the* sum of £22 was taken at the door, there, being visitors from Hawera and Waverley. The following programme was gone through: Overture by Miss Hodge; grand march of Allies; song "The Allies, 1 ' Mr Cad- | man; recitation, Mrs Illingworth; song "Roses Everywhere," Miss Q. Hodge &.nd chorus of girls; comic song, "The Scavenger Brigade," Messrs R. and S. Hodge. The song, "Blue Dragoons," was nicely rendered by Ivy Tayler and chorus, each being dressed in characteristic uniform; song, "Little Girl from Nowhere," Pearl Hodge and chorus; "Swing Song," Misses Hodge, j layler and Burnand., with three little I tots in swings; the next item was a patriotic song, entitled "Over There " by Misses Hodge and Burnand, with a chorus of fully armed, khaki-clad heroines, and was greatly appreciated • recitation, Eva Sutherland; coon sons' Misses I Tayler, A. Burnand, D.' Hodge, and D. Gooday; humorous duet^ Spring Cleaning,'^ I vy and Albert* Tayler; gipsy life was prettily portrayed by a number of suitably attired young ladies. The entertainmenFwas brought ts A close with a dialogue, entitled "Morning Callers," which was well carried out.

. The hall was then cleared for dancing, which was kept going till 230 a.m the music being supplied by Miss Wodge, while Mr W Penzer ably carried out th.c duties of M.C. Extras £9re played by Misses I. Tayler, 0. Hodge H. Hurley, E. Hodge, amf Messrs G. Macky and A. Tayler.
