VARIOUS RESOLUTIONS.(by teleghaph— pbess association > WELLINGTON, July 18. me conference of the Council of Agriculture resolved tliat, in the opinion of. the conference, there should only be-one breeders' society for each, breed of-ani-mals and one register for each.; that the conference considers it advisable, on ac~ count of the shortage of shearers .that ail sheep-owners should be asked-to-en-gage, wherever possible), one learner to every four shearers or part thereofthat the Department of Agriculture bey urged to certify to the value, or otherwise, of all sheep dip mixtures offered' tor sale in the Dominion, with a view to ascertaining . whether the mixture1 J? ut.u,P. may be deemed satisfactory dip> tor killing tics and lice on sheep • that m view of the want of uniform treatment by -pastoralists of foot rot, which has seriously increased in Hawke's Bay 1 this year, the Government be. ur^ed' to make exhaustive experiments and advise as to the best treatment; that ■further steps be taken to urge upon the v Government 'to have investigations made for the cause and prevention of dry-rot in turnips; that the Government be urged to conscript for national work all eligible enemy aliens and persons of enemy descent who might claim exemption from military service by reason of their enemy parentage. It was decided to urge the Government to make mandatory those clauses in the Rating Act givino- oowev to local' bodies to exempt bona fide show grounds from taxation.
