RETIREMENT AT STANISLAU

ADMITTED

AMSTERDAM, July 9

A semi-official message from Berlin states that Saturday's raid was first directed against storehouses and facifcories, and alleges that bombs were dropped on the docks and on the northern bank of the Thames. Charing Cross station was hit several times.

Nearly all the factories in the Rhine country are idle, the workers demanding the same concessions as their Russian confreres.

LONDON, July 9. A wireless German official report stattes: The Crown Prince attacked with complete success, and is improving his positions at Chemin dcs Dames. We captured French trenches on a front of three and a half kilometres southward of Lagny Filain, and held same against five counter-attacks. The French retain small portions of trenches on the west bank of the Meuse.

In fresh battles at Stanislau strong Russian attacks pressed us back in the direction of the wooded heights of Czarnas. German reserves brought the thrust to a standstill. Several Russian attacks, in the Carpathians failed.
