CHRISTCHURCH, May 28. The Hon. W. Fraser, Minister of Public Works, states tharfc the Government is continuing the public works it took in hand last financial year. On Marco. 31 he had in hand over £180,00;j for roads and bridges. That sum is unallotted and will be available this year. He intends to ask the Government to continue the present policy without imposing further restrictions on public undertakings. Mr- Fraser says he is adhering to the principle he adopted some time ago that local bodies should reduce their demands as mucE as possible.
