May 26. | A French communique states: Two t successive attacks launched against our salients east and west of Cerney were ; without result. We attacked on both sides of Mont Cornillet, considerably extending cur positions. (Admiralty, per Wireless Press). A Russian official message states: We frustrated Turkish attempts to dislodge us from heights southward of Van. j A German official report states: We carried out surprise attacks on the Che_ mm dcs Dames, which considerably im- ! proved our positions, and we easily re.pulsed a French counter-attack Three I strong French attacks southward and south-eastward of Nauroy, on a four- ' kilometre front, failed. Our air squadron dropped bombs in Dover and Folk I stone with good results. Th.c enemy i lost twenty-one aeroplanes on Friday. (Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) , LONDON, May 26. Sir Douglas Haig reports: Our line was advanced slightly to-day westward and^ north-westward of Fonttaine-lez-' Croiselles. We made a successful raid early in the morning north-westward of Wytßchoete, and secured prisoners. We made rr.any air reconnaisances and bombing raids on Friday. Ten German aeroplanes were brought down and five of ours are missing. . |
