FRASER ROAD.
(From Our Own Correspondent).
A GOOD-BYE SOCIAL.
' There was a large gathering on Inursday night at the residence of Mr b. Death, Eraser road, for the purpose or saymg good-bye to Trooper G. ±layal], the son of one of our oldest settlers. Dancing was kept up for many hours to excellent music supplied by Foster Bros, from Eltham Extras were played by Mrs Campbell, Miss Babbage, and Miss Dale. Mr* Campbell acted as M.C. Mrs Bublitz gave a very amusing recitation, and an ample supper was handed round by the ladies. Mr Babbage, in making a presentation to Trooper Flavall, remarked that their guest had grown up amongst them, and that they had met there that night to testify to the respect in which they all held him, and to present him with a email token of their esteem. He therefore had the greatest pleasure in asking Trooper Flavall to accept an illuminated wristlet watch, and hoped that when h© learnt the time in the trenches from its face it would serve to remind him of the anxious faces watching and waiting for his return to Rotokare. Mr Babbage hoped that when Trooper Flavall returned he would bring peace with honor to the Empire and a V O for himself. Miss S. Dale fastened the watch on Trooper Flavall's wrist. The gathering was in every way an unqualified success.
