The High Commissioner reports from liondon on May 23rd, at 3.20 p.m.: — A French official report states: Yesterday evening we began at three points a lively attack with good results on the plateau of Vauchlere and the plateau of California. We continue the conquest of the final observation posts commanding the Ailette Valley, and are improving our position on the slopes 'to the northward in the region eastward of Chevteux. We captured three lines of trenches during the night and an enemy counter-attack on the California plateau was broken by us with heavy losses to the assailants.
