OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT
"THE PAWNBROKER" (CHARLIE
CHAPLIN)
A programme of merit is promised at the Opera House this evening, containing two feature attractions, a Fox photo-drama and the iatestf Mutual Chaplin comedy, "The Pawnbroker." Charles is quite at his best in this picture, and manages to instil the maximum amount of comicality into his acting^of the part of the pawnbroker's assistant. Charlie finds that the interior of an alarm clock is not what it should he, and immediately sets to work to open it. With hammer and chisel he dissects the interior, and being perfectly satisfied 'that it is' now unsaleable hands it back to th.c would-be seller. There is, of cours* a huge villain, fights and chasings, and many other of the) ludicrous happenings ! common to the Chaplin pictures. Mme. Bertha Kalish appears in the leading pant of the William Fox picture photoplay "Ambition," which will be pre&entin the second half of the programme.
