GERMAN WAR ADVERTISEMENTS
Under the heading of "Some German War Advertisements," the following J delicacies are mentioned as being for ' sale:— Meat wares of recognised quality can be bought at Emil SchelienbergerV Horse Slaughterhouse and Sausage Factory. (Leipziger Tageblatt.) Al tinned seal-meat in 61b boxes, offered net at the lowest prices. (Berliner Tageblatt.) Sea-mussels are being extensively advertised, and seem to be the food most offered for sale in German newspapers. The supply j s stated to have gone up from 175 tons in 1910 to 10,000 in 1916. They make their appearance in all varieties of mixtures—pickled, in vinegar or soaked in fat. For example: Herb and mussel mea-t paste; firstrate for spreading on bread. In boxes containing about 12oz. (Berliner Tageblatt). Soup seansonings, prime quality, from shell-fish meat ; in basket bottles of 501b analysed, to be had cheap. (Berliner Tageblatt). Four loads of frost-bitten potatoes for sale. (Berliner Tageblatt.) Various dried materials for manufacturing coffeq substitutes to be sold in great quantities. (Berliner Tageblatt.)
