Tjlg many friends of Mr. T. B. Salmon wiii be gtad to learn that >he has made an excellent recovery from his illness, and is now at his home and in a fair way again to the best of health.

Mr A. M. Samuel, who contested the Hutt 6eat unsuccessfully against Mr Wilford. has been appointed major in command of the Wellington Mounted Rifles Regiment in the Third Reinforcement Force now assembling at Trentham.

Mr Charles Zachariah, formerly stationed at Hawera, has been appointed Public Trustee for the district of Dunedin, Oamaru, Inv.ercargill, Gore, Lawrence and Queenstown.

Mr J. Sheat, a valued member of the teaching staff of tlie local District High School, is relinquishing his profession in order to study law at the Victoria University College. He was yesterday presented by the. headmaster, on behalf of the teachers and scholars, with a dressing case.
