At the Dominions Commission, one witness, referring to the suggestion of a minimum cablegram rate from Australia of 9s,'instead of 18v said that the cables might be blocked by the traffic, which was only paying a small ■proportion of the total cost. This mignt interfere with the commercial traffic. A pooling arrangement between the Eastern and Pacific Cable Boards would, ere this, have rendered a reduction of rates possible, enabling them to transfer traffic from one to the other and save a sudden rush on either company If the Post Office assented, the. Eastern Gampanv would always deliver the wcek'-end cable letters on Monday morning, instead of on Tuesday. The Commission has adjourned until January
