ON THE WEST COAST.
CITIZENS MEETING APPROVE GOVERNMENT'S ACTION.
STRIKERS' DEMONSTRATION PLANNED.
GREYMOUTH, Nov. 14. A large and representative meeting of citizens was held to deal with the position arising out of the strike. The press were not admitted. The following resolutions were passed: "That this large and representative meeting of Greymouih commercial interests convey to you its appreciation of the firm and capable manner in which the Government is dealing with the labor crisis through^ which the country is passing. We realise that the maintenance of law and order is a fundamental principle of society, and consider that the thorough methods adopted by the Government to protect those who are willing to work are in the best interests of New Zealand." "That this large and representative meeting of Greymouth commercial interests approves of the firm attitude adopted by the Employ* ers' Federation in the present crisis, and 'expresses its confidence in the executive of your Federation."
The Holmdale is due off the bar tomorrow with a genera) cargo. It is rumored here that the State miners will proceed to Hokitika to prevent the cargo landing.' v There is to be a big demonstration by the strikers here to-morrow afternoon to protest against the imprisonment of the strike leaders.
