SIGNOR CARUSO'S BOY.
I Admirers of Signor Caruso who thronged to Covent Garden on a certain Tuesday night, delighted as they were with the charm of his voice, •narked both in his bearing and m his singing a strange nervousness. No one ' guessed the cause. I "I was nervous." he confessed next day, "because I was really singing to an audience of one—the most difficult of all audiences. Sitting in one of tho boxes I knew there was one critic whom 1 dare not disappoint—one who was listening to me ?or the first time, lie was my little son. His presence there made me nervous, because I wondered all the time whether <r not he would be pleased. Of my welcome at Covent Gardens I cannot say enough. It was superb—the best I have ever had. I love the English audiences, and on Tuesday ttey received me raaturousLy."
