Mr W. F. Simpson, the well known long distance runner, died at Christchurch, on Sunday, July 20, at the age of 37 years. The late Mr Simpson was a guard on the Mount Somers railway He had a long and brilliant career (iri the amateur racing track. In 1901 at Auckland, he put up an Australasian record, 14min 49sec. for three miles fiat race. Some years ago, with G W Smith of Auckland, he represented New Zealand in England, and put up some good performances. l
