HANDKERCHIEF PARADES.
Many comedians have raised a laugh by an imitation of a weeping schoolboy using liis sleeve as a, handkerchief, but an instruction lias now "been issued to teachers by the principal medical officer of the New South Wales Education Department that will eventually put the habit out of practice. In the current issue of the Puvilic Instruction Gazette the following appears;—" That the health of school children is greatly benefited by the proper use of handkerchiefs has now been definitely proved. By this means the air-passages are kept .clear, and the tendency to mouth i^-eathing and the formation of adenoids is /Jim'inished. It is, therefore, desirable that teachers should hold handkerchief parao""9S frequently. They should be held at leas/"'' 8* ne heginning of the mornin<T and afternoon sessions, and always before cO-' TimenciriS physical or breathing exerci.' 6*5- Another advantage of + ho=r> nni-n.k '. and one that will be aptnese paiacie* • ~ , , .. - predated by a* teachers, is the fact that when they are carried ont regularly the number of children bringing handkerchiefs to es<*ool will be found to increase rapidly.
