The monthly meeting of this Union "was held in the Presbyterian Hall yesterday afternoon, when a fair number were present. Mrs Parkinson, a visiting member from Greymouth, was welcomed, and two members were received by transfer from Normanby Auxiliary. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mesdames Williamson and Champion in their recent sad bereavements. The White Ribbon and T. E. Taylor (July 27) memorial days were observed the offerings to be devoted towards Maori work. Final arrangements were made in connection with the Provincial Convention, which is to be held in Hawera next Wednesday, August 6. Mr Gilbert Carson (Wanganui) will address delegates and friends on "The Democratic Vote Campaign." Mr and Mrs Alexander, of the Society of Friends. England, will sneak on 'TPeace and Arbitration." All Union members are requested to bring a basket. Friends and sympathisers are cordially incited to attend the convention.
