LOSING PUBLIC SYMPATHY.
LONDON, August 1. The Bishop of Pretoria, in a letter, states that public, sympathy first favored the men, but since the rejection of the Government's terms and attempts at intimidation opinion had changed. The public is desirous to-learn the views of the workers themselves, and believes that a ballot would show a big majority in favor of a. fair compromise.
