MARKETING OF DAIRY PRODUCE.
To the Editor
Sir, —JR. Corrigan's statements in the combined directors' meeting reported in your issue of July 29th are misleading and incorrect. He states tnat Canadian cheese on October 5, Turakina's sailing date, was 67s to 68s, but the High Commissioner's report states that on October 5 Canadian;, cheese- was 655, Corrigan's statements about London merchants hammering down the price of the Turakina cheeße are proved incorrect by the High Cmomissioner's report of November 9, stating that Canadian cheese realised, white 625, . colored 635. This was the lay nfter the Turakina arrived, which was November 8. The London merchants ~ho sold at equal to the price, 63s obtained by Lonsdale's for the Turakina's shipment sold that boat's New Zealand cheese at higher prices than Canadian cheese sold at shillings more than price up and not down, because Canadian chees sold at shillings more than New Zealand shipments during the whole of last i"ea*>n. If you will publish the High Commissioner's cables from October 5 co November 16 they will prove that th.3 London market did not warrant more than the Turakina realised, as per the High Commissioner's cabLe dated November 16, .when the cable stated that the market was quiet. The Turakina cheese realised 61s, 635. This price against 625, 63s 1 for Canadian is an exceptionally good price, and it shows that those firms i who had most cheese on the Turakina to be good sellers of New Zealand ' cheese. ■ , . * I ' " S. TURNER.
