WEDDING BELLS.

RUSSELL-McCONNELL

A very pretty wedding was celebrated on Thursday, 31st;.ult., at the residence, of the bride's parents, Milmoe street, when Helen Baird, only daughter of Mr T. B. McConnell, of Hawera, was united in the bonds of wedlock to Wilfred Russell, eldest son of Mr J. R. Russell, of. Danuevirke. The Rev. Mr J. R. Shore was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a navy blue tailor-made costume trimmed with saxe-blue; and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She was attended, by Miss Riti S track (bridesmaid), who wore a saxe-blue costume, with cream lace collar and cuffs and hat to match. The bouquets carried by the bride and bridesmaid were the gifts of Mrs Wallace. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a loVely set of fox furs, and to the bridesmaid a cameo gold ring. Mr Alfred Searle attended the bridegroom as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Wedding March was played by Mrs Strack. At the wedding breakfast afterwards Mr C. A. Strack in a happy speech proposed the health of the newly-married couple, and the bridegroom suitably responded. The happy couple, amid showers of rice and confetti, left by the midday train en route for Napier, where the honeymoon is to. be spent. The bride's going away hat was grey velvet, with saxe-blue trimming and grey plume. The presents were numerous and costly, and included a piano and several cheques. On the evening prior to his wedding, his fellow-members of "The Batch," of which Mr Russell had been a member for the past three years, took occasion to mark their esteem by presenting him with a case of pipes and a Royal Doulton afternoon tea service.
