ONE OF THE PASSENGERS DEAD

BI CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. AUCKLAND, Sep. 4. Herbert Lade, a butcher's assistant, who was injured at Taringamotu in the tramway accident, died on the way to the hospital. The Rev. Mr Hanby'had his left leg broken, and he will probably lose the limb.

Further particulars of the Taringamotu accident show that about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon a party was being taken through some of the Taringamotu Sawmilling Company's bush on the company's tramway. When nearing the foot of a steep grade, some wild pigs ran across the line, but failed to clear it, and a collision ensued. The truck containing the passengers was overturned, and a number of travellers were thrown clear.

The youth Lade, who died before reaching the hospital, was about 20 years of ace. He was a native of Scotsdale, Tasmania, where his parents reside.

Tho Rev. Mr Hanby bad his leg bioken, an ankle badly sprained, and be was considerably crushed about the chest. Miss McFavlane. who wns on the tram at the time of the mishap, rendered first aid until medical assistance wns obtained. The in in red were brought tn Franlctnn by the Main Trunk ■express. Lade died on'the train at 1.12 a.m.
