LIBERAL LEADERSHIP

The leadership of the Liberal party is similarly left out of the question until it is really vacant. The late Premier is still leader, but a successor will doubtless be appointed when he leaves New Zealand. This is not a matter to be hurried, in the opinion of a large number of Liberals. They see excellent opportunities for' carrying on the legitimate work of parliamentary opposition without an actual leader. Time will heal the differences which have divided them, and there is already an improved feeling of cohesion in the Liberal ranks. The new Opposition has not shown any disposition to fractiously obstruct the Government's work.
