WELLINGTON, Aug. 2

Mr G. 11. S. Trott, writing to Mr A. George, of Wellington, says that the Victorian Cricket Association has been approached by the South Melbourne Cricket Club for permission to tour New Zealand, to play mid-week matches, and that permission would probably be granted. In any case a team would come on to New Zealand, and, besides other well-known cricketers, the team would include Layer and Noble.
