CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 17. \t Addmi;tou to-day there were moderate yardings of nearly all classes of stock, and a good attendance. Fat cattle showed no change, store sheep and fat lambs sold well, and fat sheep opened at last week's rates, but, eased off towaids the end of the sale. Pigs were in keen demand.
; Sheep: Best rfcpe lambs, made 12s 9cF to .13s 6d ; good, 12s to 12s 6d; medium, Up to lls 9d; smaller, 9s. 9d to 10s 6d,' culls. 7s 10d: small 2-<tooth ewes, lls 6d: 2, 4, and .6-tooths, 15s 7d; young cull ewes, 10s to lls, full-mouth merino ewes, 7s 10:1; ewes, with lambs. 9s 3d to Us 7d (all counted) ; forward 4 and Gtooth wethers,, 15s to 16s: 2-tooths, lls 6.1 to 12s 3d; small culls, 9s 6d to 10s 9d. There was an entry of 2680 iambs, and both condition and quality showed a considerable improvement .'over late yardmgs. There ■was. bettor competition, in consequence of the larger^ supply, the exporters bidding more freely. There was practically no improvement in the price per pound, the higher range of values per head being due to the better quality. There were a.few unfinished l.cts,'and those were bought by graziers. Best lambs made 14s 6d to 17s; and lighter. 12s lOd to 14s. The range of prices was:—Prime wethers, 17s 6d to 21s; others, 12s (xl to 17s; prime'ewes. 15s 6d to 18s 6d; extra, to 20s; others! lls to 15s; merino wethers, 10s 6d to 14s 6d. Steers made £7 2s 6d to £13 10s; heifers, £5 os to £9 ss; cows, £5 10s to £8 2s 6d (equal to 25s to 29s per 1001b). Veal calves made 4s 6d to 57s 6d, according to size and quality. Good stores sold well, 15 to 18-months\nakmp--32s 6d to £3 15s; 2-yeav steers, £4 17s 6d; 2-year heifers, £3 15s; 3-year steers, £6 17s f.d; 3-year heifers,' £4 ss; dry cows, 27s 6d to £4' os. Dairy cows sold at £3 10s to £8 17s 6d.
Fat pigs. - Ghoppers made 55s to vSOs; large baconers, 60s to 7.35; smaller, 48s to 57s 6d (equal to 6d per lb); large porkers 42s to 495; smaller^ 35s to 48s (equal to 6d per Ib). A smaller entry, of store pigs sold at advanced rates under active competition, medium sorts making 18s to. 255; weaners, 12s'- 6d to 17s 6d; and sows, in pig, 45s to 50s.
