THE SALVATION ARMY.
DOMINION AUTONOMY
8T TELEOBAIPB—PB.ES9 ASSOCIATION.
CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 18. Colonel Fisher, finance secretary of I;h© Salvation Army in Australasia, has arrived in Christchurch to_ make arrangements in connection with the reorganisation of the Army in New Zealand.
Colonel Fisher states, that under the old arrangement the Dominion had only two headquarters, one at Wellington And one at Christchurch. Under the new system, however, New Zealand would be divided into four provinces, with headquarters in each chief centre. This alteration has been brought about preparatory to a greater change, when a commissioner will take over the control of the whole work in New/Zealand. Hitherto the officer in charge in New Zealand has been responsible to the Australasian headquarters at Melbourne, but under the new scheme New Zealand will be autonomous and responsible to the headquarters in London. Colonel Fisher leaves for the north te-morrow night.
