MR H. B. IRVING AT ELTHAM.

That- local playgoers are regarding the visit to Eltham of Mr H. B. Irving in, his production of "Hamlet" as an event out of the ordinary they displayed in a, marked degree at the box-office yesterday, when there was a very large demand for seats, and the possibilities are that the Town Hall will prove far too small to accommodate the number who will endeavor to obtain admission on. Tuesday night next. The last night of Mr Irving's Sydney season was a memorable one.. The night was notable aa the close of an important season, and the presence of Mine. Melba in the manager's box also contributed to the 'interest of the audience. At the close of the performance Mr Irving, in responding to insistent calls for a- speech, said he was very sorry indeed to'leave Sydney, in which he had had the most delightful and happy time in his- professional experience. Numerous floral tributes were handed 'to Miss Dorothea. Baird, and Mme. Melba sent Mr Irvinga. wreath of laurel leaves. The Auckland season has been a supreme success.
