A telegram has been received by the Navigation Department from Wilson's Promontory that the White Star liner Suevic, en route to Sydney from Melbourne, signalled that a fire had broken out in No. 1 hold. A tug has been sent to the vessel's assistance.

SYDNEY, Jan. 19. A wireless message has been received that the fire on the Suevic has been put out. \
