At about 10.20 p.m. yesterday the radio-telegraph station at Wellington heard the radio-telegraph station re--cently erected at Macquarie Island calling various stations, but was unable to ■communicate with that station. The dis^ tance from Macquarie Island to Wellington is approximately 1100 miles.
