BURNSIDE MARKET.
DTJNEDIN, Jan. 17. At Burnside to-day 194 fat cattle were yarded. A fair number of good quality bullocks were forward, but the larger number consisted of heifers and cows. The sale opene with prices for bullocks at about last week's rates, but cows and heifers were not so well competed for, and were easier in price. Towards the end of the sale values declined still further. Extra prime bullocks, £13 10s to £14 10s; good, £10 10s to £12; light, £7 10s to £9 10s; best cows and heifers, £8 10s to £9 12s 6d; good, £7 os to £8 ss; light, £5 10s to £6 10s. Fat sheep: Extra prime ; wethers, heavy, 20s to 21s 9d; medium weights, 18s to 19s; light and unfinished, 15s to 17s; extra prime heavy ewes, to 20s 9d; medium weights, 16s to 27s 6d; light, 13s to 14s; aged, 8s to 10s. Fat lambs: Best, 15s to 16s 9d-j good, 13s 6d to 14s 6d; light and unfinished, 10s to 12s 6d.
Piers: Suckers, 11s to 14s; slips, 16s to 20s; stores, to 265; porkers, 36s to 425; baconers, 45s to 50s; heavy do., to 70s.
