"ONLY VAPOURINGS.
CHAMP CLARK'S HOT AIR
LONDON, Nov. 12. In the House of Commons to-day Mr ■J. Newman asked a question with regard to the speech which Mr J. ChampClark, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, delivered the other day, and in which he declared that nine-tenths of the American people favored the annexation of Canada.
Mr F. D. Acland, Parliamentary Secretary to the Foreign Office, replied that he was of opinion that the British Ambassador in Washington did not think the incident was sufficiently important to report to the Government. The Globe, referring to the American Speaker's remarks, says: "They are only vapourings, and it is a pity that Mr Clark's hot air gains the notice of the House of Commons."
