HAWERA v. WANGANUI COLLEGE.

Hawera beat Wanganui College at Hawera on King Edward Park ground ■on Saturday last. A large number of ; spectators were "present. The ground was-in good order. From the start the. College made several good runs, the centre and left wing showing consid--erable dash and speed. Hawera forwards did not play up to their usual standard. P. Young was the pick of the forward line and did good work. She made a good run and netted the ball just as the whistle blew for halftime, but the goal was disallowed. No score had been made up to half time. In the second half the game became -very exciting,, both sides playing up. The Hawera defence were severely tested, but proved a Httle too strong for the College. The ball was kept aliqbst up and down the field, the play being very swift and very keen. After • about 20 minutes Hawera scored through A. Young. Both the Hawera backs played very well and stopped the rush or the' College forwards over and over again. Just before time Hawera scored again. The game was very fast -and very keenly contested. The College clayed very good hockey, the forwards particularly so, and S. Collier played a brilliant and noticeable game. Hawera 2, College nil.
