THE NEW BRIGHTON FIRE

DAMAGF EXAGGERATED. BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 1. A survey of the scene of the fire at New Brighton impresses one with the small amount of damage actually done compared with the magnitude of the danger. A residence was destroyed. Several summer whares and one large place, supposed to have been burned, escaped. It was impossible yesterday to actually ascertain what happened because of the smoke. The fire fighters had a strenuous time at the edge of the borough. Duff was the only one who was insured for £50.
