It appears that both Overtoil, the proprietor of the Princess Hotel, and Michael Quirke mutually mistook each other for Powelka. Overton raised his gun and Quirke his revolver. Overton fired first. Quirke did. not die at once, as at first thought, but has now expired at the hospital.
