BREWER FINED £50

INVERCARGILL, January 29

Richard Whittingham, brewer, was fined £50 on a charge of making false entries in his books. The case was previously dismissed by the Magistrate on the ground that the errors were due to negligence, but the Customs appealed to the Supreme Court,- where it was held that there should have, been a conviction. No costs were allowed. The Minister will be asked to remit the fine.
