A PERILOUS EXPERIENCE.
(Received August 30, lO.auu.) SYDNEY, August 10. The Kdmura was towed into New■xeSftftie-. She left Brisbane- on Tuesclay night and' shortly afterwards ran 'nlo a strong south-easterly gale, with hieh seas. The steamer was flying light and had a bad timei from the jiimp. She made little headway against th 6 high wind, the mountainousi seas beat ing her almost to a standstill. The gale lasted through ■Wednesday and Thursday, and at night whan eff the Solitaries tfhe was found to Lc drifting. Tha weather moderating on, Friday morning, an examination disclosed that she. had lost # ..hrea Uades o£ the propeller. She drifted s throughout Friday, and on Saturday oil bags were used with good effect to keep dowa the tempestuous seas, the gale having again increased. Efforts madei to attract, a- passing steamer and tbo lighthousiei failed. On Saturday night the Moorebar saw the KanunraTsi rockets and came to her assistance. ♦ The captain attributes hid safety to. the us«» of oil. All aboard had. a, trying and anxious time.
