CHRISTCHURCH, July 13.
With respect to the telegraph lines interrupted northward of Waiau, temporary repairs have been carried out, but it will be some three weeks Before the lines are permanently repaired. After great exertion two wires were got through ks far as Conway, though there were no fewer than one hundred breaks in seventeen miles owing to the heavy falls of snow.
TAIERI FLOODS RAPIDLY SUBSIDING.
DUNEDIN, July 13. THe floods are rapidly subsiding at ! Taieri, but it is impossible to get particulars of losses yet. There is still about 4 feet of snow round Naseby. The Manitoto County Council put 50 men on to-day to clear the track to Ranfurly, a distance of about nine miles, and expected the work to be finished in about, a week. There is a shortage of coal, and butter in Naseby. l'he full service on the main south line was restored to-day, and the service was again opened to > Ranfurly on the Otago Central.
