TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Tuesday. Present : Messrs Heslop, Oonnett, and Rattenbuiy. In the absence of the Commissioner Mr Heslop was voted to the chair.
APPLICATIONS FOR SECTIONS.
The land applied for since last meeting was as under : — Sec. 62, block 15, Omona, 785 acres, D. and F. G. Grantham, 0.r.p. ; Sec. 3 and 10, block 4, Opaku, 1232 acres, C. Perkins, o.r.p. — Approved.
The application of H. P. Nielson, for Sec. 28, block 8, Ngaire, 185 acres, was approved.
TRANSFERS
M. J. O'Keefe to E. M. Anderson, sec. 53, block 13, Pouatu; H. Wills to T. Higginson, sees, 10, 11, and 15, block 16, Ngatimaru; E. Chapman to G. W. Chapman, sec. 6, block 1, Ngatimaru; T. H. WMtebead -to J. H. Revell, sec. 92, block 4, Paritutu; C. E. Duff to C. H. Scott, sec. 4, block 3, Waro; O. J. Priest to T. R. Surrey, sec. 4, block 4, Huiroa. All the applications were agreed to excepting C. E. Duff' 6, who had not effected the required improvements. His interest in the section was forfeited. The .transfer of sec. 5, block 15, Pouaitu, from C. Hodge to W. B. West was completed.
GENERAL.
Re vransfea* sec. 35, block 2, Omona, from A. Dons to J. B. Norris, it was resolved to inform <the parties that the transfer cannot be agreed to.
L. Barnett's application to effect improvements <m sec. 2, block 9, A^ria, on his father's section, was not granted.
Plans of deviations of the Opau, Mangaitoro, Tongaporutu, Mangaroa, and Riwi roads, were laid on table, together with Gazette notice, taking and closing roads affected. — Resolvedi that the titles be amended accordingly.
The ranger .reported having Teßumed possession . of the following forfeited sections : — Section 13, block 11, Cape; section 4, block 3, Upper Waitara; section 8, block 11, Totoro; section 4, block 6, Aria; section 4, block 13 Mimi. — Resolved that first and second sections be re-offered for selection, weighted with improvements; and remainder to be re-offered under Bush and Swamp Act.
J. A. Coefcerton wrote, expressing ddssa/tisfacbian with the .reduction, of the capital value of section 2, block 9, Hawera, by the area of a plantation. — Resolved that, in accordance with his request, and at considerable trouble, the Board has obtained the Tielref asked for, and it is fox him .to aay whether he wall accept it or continue to pay rent on the area of the plantation according to his original lease. T. G. Benson appealed against the forfeiture of section 11, block 10, Ohura. — Resolved the Board cannot see its way to rescind the forfeiture.
D. Gxantham applied to convert tenure of section 40 and 45, block U, Ngaire, to freehold. — Agreed 1 to.
DEFAULTERS.
Sections belonging to th^ following were declared' forfeited :— T. R. Andeiison, T. R. and L. Anderson, Mahoe and Pouatu; R. E. Graham, Omona; C. N. Hastae, Taurakawa; C. Reynolds, Ohura. Six months' extension, with conditions, in some, were .granted in the following cases : E. Yon Stunner, Waro; H. E. Rowe, Waitara; J. M. Guidey, Obura; T. A. O'Brien, Ghuara; J. P. ivelly, Mahoe.
J. Irons waited on the Board, and asked if be would be allowed to apply for land again within two years of forfeiture by him of a section. — Request granted.
The application of S. S. Corrigan for section 26, Huinga Settlement, "was agreed to,, as was J. C. Towes' for & section in. the same locality. — News.
