NELSON, March 20. At the Supreme Court 'this afternoon, Wm. Beltany, juiur., twsus found guilty of appropriating to his own use the earn of £270 belonging to the estate of W. Wilkie. , deceased, and was sentenced to two yeare' imprisonment. That concludes criminal business, but civil business is to be taken to-morrow.

NAPIER, March 20.

'At the Supreme Court to-day 7 a native named Patrotone was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for carnally kriow--ing a Maori girl under the age of sixteen years. A verdict of not guilty was jreturned in the case against Michael Smith, charged with indecent assault on a female of the age of five years. A Maori named Maura Kurukuru pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery, andi was admitted to probation for three yeans.
