It was resolved, That the Land Transfer Act should be amended to provide that when land is being brought under the Act or sub-divided, the Borough Council interested should be notified. 1 The question of framing a definition of ! a common lodging-house was referred to a committee. It was agreed that district eleciton© rolls of borough should be electoral rolls used at all elections and polls by local authorities within the. boroughs. It was decided to recommend that I borough councils or the Agricultural Det partmTMt bs given authority to proclaim milk districts, aimilaT to those now obtaining for abattoirs, and. to control the sale of milk in the proposed districts. Honorary officers were re-elected and the conference closed. A number of recommendations By Dr Mason, Chief Health Officer, were adopted regarding butchers' and barbers' shop 6. In respect of the former an effort should be made to protect meat in shops from dust and a better style of delivery cart is required. The proposals regarding baTbens' shops are elaborated in detail with the object of preventing customers- from catching skin and hair diseases. Later. A deputation from the Conference waited on the Colonial Secretary and placed before him the resolutions passed, "urging that they be given effect to. This had not been done with the resolutions of the past two conferences. The Minister eaid a bill had been drafted and brought down last session, but pressure of work had prevented it passing. A similar bill was ready this session and Cabinet would consider the- proposals of the Conference and if they met with approval a bill would be amended on the lines of the Conference decision. The session, however, was a short one, and they might not be able to get the bill through. Still municipal bodies would have the opportunity of seeing in concrete form the attitude of th© Government as disclosed in the bill.
