i ESTATE OF JOSEPH BLOOMFIELD. j A meeting of creditors in the estate of Joseph Bloomfield was held on Wednesday *ftemoon. Mr C. A. Budge, D.0.A., presided., and the creditors present were, ; Messrs Newton King, J. Hopkirk, G. j Synne, E. Bloomfield, and Bennett and Sutton. Mr Caplen appeared with the bankrupt. The total debts (all unsecured) were j shown to amount to £94f 13s 3d and the ' assets to £692 2s 7d. Particulars of these •have already been published. j Statements signed by Bloomfield, who filed on August 23, were to the effect that ' he had no land, having disposed of all he had on August 20 to .WatkLns and Murch. When ihe sold this land he intended getting all his cash in and compounding with his creditors. He had ' been trying to sell the place for 13 months ' and had instructed Mr McAlpine to sell i for £550— what- it cost him. This was ' £400 for a factory erected; on the place ! and £150 for the goodwill. H© was losing money on the place and Watkins. and March's offer was the best and only one ' he received. By selling half of Candy's faam (200 acres freehold) in July,. 1905, be received ' £1400 cash and had /implements in addition. At *hat.time v he owed Bewley and Griffiths £600;" McAlpine £200 for stock and £200 to £250 for' goodwill of Crabbe's land, and Newton Kiing £240 for purchase of Stevens' in- 1 tercet. His stock was then worth £1500. He sold Crabbe's place about 2 months ago for £225 and lost £25 and comrnis sion. About last February he put 'up a factory on Stevens' place at a cost of £400 exclusive of his labor. A slander case cost him about £100. Most of his tramsactions were made through Mr McAlpine, who financed 'him in the factory venture which was a failure owing to the late time at which he commenced operations.
