FATAL BOAT ACCIDENT.

NELSON, July 9.

A fatal boat ocddiant' jacctnwd on Saturday in fflie Motueka river, which is in flood. Three young men were crossing in a canoe near the site of the new bridge, and were carried down-stream by a strong current. Banning on to some staging in the river the canoe overturned, »nd one of the occupants, Reuben Grooby, aged 17, son of Mr Thomas Grooby, Rooky Ttever, was drowned. The other occupants managed to climb up the staging.
