GRAND NATIONAL HURDLES.

MELBOURNE, July 7. Tue meeting commenced in fine but cold weather.
Grand National Hurdles. — Realm (Hoyt) 1, Rattlesnake (Qudnane) 2, Corinthus (Williamson) 3. Twenty starters. Betting : 4 to 1 against Shamrock, 5 to 1 Rattlesnake, 8 to 1 Florin, 10 to 1 Sun, 12 to 1 Realm.
From a good start Rattlesnake and Florin were first away. Sun led out of the .straoighlfc from Florin, Rattlesnake and Realm. Passing the bridge Corinthus was leading, and kept it to the straight. Shamrock and Corinthue were galloping together in front of Sun and Realm at the riverside. On the second round, at the bridge, the leaders were three lengths from Realm. The latter., however, got to the front at the turn, from Rattlesnake and Corinthus. Realm. r had the race settled 1 as the las* hurdle was crossed, and won by eight lengths. Time, 5.45|. Miss King finished last.
