(Received August 2, 9.32 p.m.) LONDON, August 2. 3lr Coghlan, New South Wales AgentGeneral, interviewed, said that without knowledge of the new shipping laws which Germany was introducing into the- Marshall Islands, it was impossible for him to say if they will give satisfaction to Australian. Britisfi ships must enjoy there the same rights as German ships enjoyed in British waters. Australian shipowners required conmpensation for their losses owing to the otnial of treaty rights. The New South Wales Government is cancelling orders placed in. Germany and withholding further orders. Other States are acting similarly, and all are - considering the advisability of I united action.
A meeting of Ararata householders to elect a School Committee and suggest boundaries for the school district is called for Thursday, August 24th, at 8 p.m.
