Fodder— Compressed, 4a per 1001b, c.if. Lucerne —• Argentine, 3s. 9d per 1001b c.if. Bran— New Zealand and Australian 4s 9d to 5s c.i.f. Maiae -> Local, 4s. Potatoes. — These aro confined to local supplies, of which the samples are. very good ; the price is from £6 id £7 per ton. Butter. — New Zealand and Australian— New Zealand 1034, Australian pats 10|d. The Australian supply is small in conse : quence of the drought; aS a coJttsequettce there is a tendency to firmer prices. For the very choicest brands spot market is Is 2£d, duty paid. Queensland qualtiy runs from ls Ojd to Is lid. The indent demand is very fair. Poultry — Fowls, 31b and over, 4s 8d to 4s 9d per pair c.if. ; chickens, 2jslb, 4s 3d per pair. Cheese. — Loaf, in bond, 7d per lb. Flour. — Australian, soft, is quoted at 9s per 1001b c.i.f. ; hard, lls. Beef. — Australian, sides 140 to 1601b, 3Jd; Argentine, sides 3^d. Mutton. — Australian, 45 to 601b, 3|d per lb, extra 3Jd c.i.f. ; Argentine, 45 to 601b, 3gd. Pork, sj|d. Veal, 4gd per lb. Lamb.— Australian, 30 to 351b, 4Jd per lb ; Argentine, 30 to 351b, 4|d per lb. Fruit. — There has recently been somewhat of a flutter in the Capetown market in connection with fruit, so largely- imported from Australia. It is allege.d that Australia is glutting the Capetown market with fruit, and to such an extent that last year the "\ustralians lost £25,000 in i connection with the matter. A great deal of fruit is arriving here from Capetown at present, but a great deal of it is j not in tho best condition, and tho prices aro low.
