CHRISTCHURCH RAM AND EWE FAIR.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 16
1 There was a fair attendance at the ram and ewe fair, but some very fine specimens were penned. At •the subsequent sales 4421 sheen were catalogued. The sheep all round were in good condition and with few exceptions a yery well-bred collection. English Lcicesters met a moderate demand, and the prices were obviously disappointing to some of the breeders, as several large lines were withdrawn at auction, though some of them subsequently found buyers. Prices ranged from 21 guineas to 5 guineas, a few ■single sneep selling at up to 18.guinoas. Shropshires were a rather mixed assortment. All good sheep sold freely, but inferior lots' were neglected. Prices vari-' cd from 2£ guineas to 4f guineas, with a few single sheen to 7 guineas. Southdowns were well competed for, and 6old from 3J guineas to 5 guinf»s, single sheep to 9£ guineas. Lincolns sold at- from 2 to 4 guineas, a few singles fetching 4i, 5, and 6 guineas. Of Romney Marsh a tow only were sold at from 6 guineas to 10 Guineas. Border Leicesters sold wall at from 4 guineas io 12 guineas. Corriedalo brought from 3 guineas to 4£ guineas, one two-shear running up to 12 guineas.
