NORTH ISLAND EXECUTIVE. A meeting was held on Tuesday. Present— Messrs Balfe. (Cardifi),. Finn (Ha«era), Foreman (Tikorangi), Murray: (Eltham), Spince (Cheltenham), and-Kob-bins (Hawera.,. „ ' Mr Balfe.was eleoted chairman, MeEixs Bewley (New Plymouth) and Booth (Wairarapa) were eleoted members of the Executive. This leaves one other appointment, and it was suggested to select one from the Hawke's Bay dißtriot. It was resolved to write to the Governj ment and get definite instructions as to the provision of cool storage at Wel»' ling ton.The question of transit of dairy produce to port of export waß fully disoassed, and the unanimous decision was that, every effort should be made to get the .whole of, tbe produce sent direct by rail to Wellington, and in this way secure tbe running of a special' train for conveying butter and cheese onoe a week, and a probability of a reduotion in freights. It was pointed out that although the cost by rail may be greater than by coasting steamers yet. tbe risk is far less, and, the; gesults would be a greater gain, inasmuch as the produot would realise a higher price at Home. In tbe matter of the appointment of a secretary to be stationed at Wellington, the executive wanted Mr Bobbins tb- take' the appointment, but he was unable to Bay definitely tbat his business arrangements could be made so S3 to allow him to do so ; he was agreeable to act for two or three months and organise affairs before the shipping season, with a possibility of acting for the year.
