A GRAVE CRISIS AVERTED.

As a thunder clap comes the announcement that last night a great crisis threatened the whole financial fabric of the colony, and that Parliament sat till four o'clock this morning to pass legislation to relieve the position. A satisfactory feature is tbe promptitude and thoroughness of tbe action taken by thß Government, and we can only hope that the position of the Bank will be so immensely strengthened as to revive the confidence in London. There haß evidently been trouble there owing to fear ; in the colony the Bank's business, it is understood, has been safe and sound, and of increasing volume; and it is hoped that the support given will renew confidence at Home. We refer to our news columns for information of what has been done.
