MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.

New PiiSmouth, June 27.

At Stratford, on Tuesday, there was a yery good muster of stock, and quite a crowd of buyers. Young cattle were in great demand, and sold at advanced rates, Nice Heifers, showing well, were also in request, whereas backward ones were much easier. Calves, JBI 8a to 40s j yearlings, £2 to £2 8s ; 18-month to 2-year heifers, in calf, JB3 5s to £3 12s 6d; 18-month steers, £2 18s to £3 2s ; springing heifers, •JM 53 to JBS 15s; heifers, backward, £3 19s dairy cows, £1 lOsto J65 ; small calves, 18s. At Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, the yards were full, rather an unusual thing in •winter time, no doubt last sale's prices caused the rush. There -were plenty of outside buyers. Competition was good for all stores, especially young stock. Dairy heifers eased down as at Stratford for backward ones. Anything near calving sold splendidly. I had more beef in than I have had for months, over 60 fat cows being yarded, some real plums from Mr W. H. Pranklyn making the satisfactory price £5 ss. They were a credit to the producer, and were much admired. There seems to be an unlimited demand for young stook. Buyers -will note my "Sahotu sale on "Wednesday. Calves made from 2±s to 38s 5 18-month steers and over, JE3 3s 6dtoJ63 sb; heifers, 18-month, £S 9s 6d; heifers, spring calvers, £3 15s to JB4 5b ; dairy cows, spring calvers, £4 4s ; cows, springing, to L 6 10s ; fat cows, L47sto L 5 7s ; store cows, L2l7s6dtoL3 6s; bnlls, Ll to L 2; ■heep, 10s.
